"This year’s Black History Month Nike Air Force 1 celebrates the achievements and pioneering spirit of three important basketball players: Julius Irving, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant. There was a call to greatness for all three players, a moment in time that defined their careers, and changed the course of history for the sport of Basketball. For Dr. J, it was unifying the ABA and NBA with his finesse and high flying style. For Jordan, it was the ’87 Slam Dunk title, the one that made kids all over draw chalk lines to jump from in their backyards. When Kobe scored 81 points in ‘06, it made you question what planet he was from. Each player laid the foundation for the next to elevate the game even further. The predominantly black upper of this Black History Month AF1 is a nod to the past, because in the early days of the sport of basketball, shoes on the court were almost always black. The hints of gold all around the shoe are reminders of the golden moment we all are striving to achieve. You’ll also find a woodblock cut print around the upper by artist Hele Woodruff, adding another chapter to the pioneer story. With a premium Stetson leather upper, metal eyelets and accessories, gold stitching, and a clear tinted outsole, you’ll see this isn’t just your average AF1. This is a sneaker that celebrates a powerful pioneering spirit." Finally detailed photos have been released of the four shoes that constitute the Nike "2011 Black History Month" Pack. The pack includes classics such as the Nike Air Force 1, and an Air Jordan Retro 3. Two other beautiful shoes in this pack are the Converse Star Player EVO (also part of the Nike Family) and the new Nike Zoom Kobe VI which was just released on the "Concord" colorway this past saturday. The EVO, Zoom Kobe and Air Jordan represent three African American men who are not only superstar athletes to themselves and their fans but super heroes to others. They are Julius Erving, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan respectively. The Converse EVO is said to pay homage to Dr. J for unifying the NBA and ABA. His star status and unifying spirit and energy helped unify the two and this EVO pays tribute to that. The Zoom Kobe VI represents a game that kobe played in 2006 where he clocked in 81 points against the Toronto Raptors putting him in 3rd place in the most points scored in a single game. The Air Jordan 3 is here to represent his dunk from the free-throw line from 1987 which sent the crowd going wild. The Jordan 3 is made of black grain leather, nubuck and suede giving a matte and glossy depth to the shoe. The BHM logo is printed on the dubrae and the shoe features gold accents just like the other 3. The accent is the Air Jordan logo, the stitching, the eyestays, the heel Air Jordan logo, the Air sole unit, and on the insole. Now to get to the Air Force 1, it is black leather that has a "woodblock cut print" on the upper of the shoe designed by the artist Hele Woodruff. The black base represents the black of the basketball shoes that were worn in the early basketball days and the gold represents the final moment, that golden finish that everyone seeks to achieve in everything they practice for. There is no official information on when the pack will be released. Other shoes which surfaced for Black History Month are the Nike Zoom KD III, and the Jordan CP3 IV. The Zoom KD III was designed to pay tribute to such people as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The print on the upper is an "African-American handcraft-inspired print". These shoes also feature a gold accent on the swoosh, flywire forefoot and on the KD logo. We should be expecting the Oklahoma City Thunder to be rocking these tomorrow on January 17th 2011. As for the Jordan CP3 IV, they also feature a similar upper to the Jordan 3, in which there is grain leather and nubuck. In addition to that just like the rest of the shoes being released, it has gold accents on the logos, parts of the outsole, eyelets, lining and stitching. Keep your eyes out on Chris Paul to be wearing these tomorrow too. Expect a february release for all these shoes but keep in mind that for some of them, word on th street is that only 3000 have been made. Are you going to be one of the lucky ones to get your hands on these? Any thoughts, feel free to comment. Mizzeecustoms once again has done another spectacular custom. This Lebron VII started out as a Grey/Red/White edition giving him a nice base to work with. Some of the things he didn't change were the laces, the air bag outsole, and the silver ankle cushion. I personally think he changed the right parts and kept the right parts, he made some good choices. My personal favorite parts of this custom are the Bugatti Branding on the tongue and the EB logo on the inside heel giving this Lebron VII the flaor it needs past all the shades of gun metal for the carbon fiber imaging. I like how he kept the carbon fiber theme going through out the entire upper however, I would have kept the flywire part of the upper, a different style or texture than the carbon fiber in order to add more contrast between the patent and the swoosh. It would have been nice to see the red flywire on the shoe for more contrast.
I give props for the mesh on the tongue, the logos and the aluminum highlights. The teasers for these kicks were great and kept us wanting more. Congrats on a job well done to Mizzeecustoms once again. Size 10
Style Code: 415327 Color Code: Varsity Red/Black-Varsity Maize When I first saw this Boot, it was sitting in a glass showcase at a local store, they were showing it off before the actual release date, and were not letting anyone purchase it, which thank god, is following the rules. However, when I went to my parents house, and over to a local sneaker joint down there, one of those big names you find everywhere, I wont mention who, they were selling them on thanksgiving, and this color way was not released until December 4th. I don't like that, and its dishonorable. A Footwear company gives you the opportunity to sell its product, and they give it to you on the honor system that you wont sell it till the appropriate date, because no one has enough man power to check individual retailers of their product, you should honor that. Don't sell a product before its release date unless you have permission. I did not purchase them at this location simply because of how I feel on the situation and I waited for their release date purchased them directly from Nike Inc. I got my boots about 4 days later and I ordered them in my regular size which is a 9 figuring if their too small, because they are boots then I can exchange them for a larger size with the Nike return system. I got em, they fit, so I took them out for a spin. I had them on no more than an hour and they were too tight on my feet. These boots run narrow and coming from a guy with a slightly wider foot these were uncomfortable. I then tried on the 9.5 and then finally was satisfied with the 10 and figured I can throw on an extra pair of socks, since it is the winter, a little extra layer never hurt anyone. I wouldn't say these run small but they definitely run a little narrow. These Posite boots are a "Sleek hybrid" of the Foamposite design and the Bakin basketball shoe. Both of them combined to form a superior boot with ultra-durable design. This boot is a very heavy durable product and as much as it has a basketball build, I would probably only use them for trail or winter not for the sport. If someone has the leg strength to play ball in these then by all means go for it, their hot. I tried playing ball in my ACG Zoom Ashikos and those, which are lighter than the average boot, were still slightly heavy and it was tough being mobile on the court, but for just fun shooting around, they are good. The first benefit of this shoe, which is clearly visible, is the Foamposite upper, which is a design for durability. The Foamposite design is sleek, shiny, modern, technological, fun, and the best part is it is "anti-crease" material. The Foamposite bends but wont crease. The next benefit of the shoe, is felt instantly upon placing this shoe on your foot. The shoe is built with an extra foam cushioning at the ankle for added support and more protection from impact whether on the trail or on the court. Whats nice about the ankle cushioning is there is a pocket for your ankle to slide into once it applies pressure on the cushioning in the boot. This ankle cup or pocket is branded with a black Nike swoosh. The third benefit is the max air unit in the sole of the shoe. This Max Air is a full-length piece just like the Nike Air Max 2009 and Air Max 2010 and other Air Max products. This air unit offers "Maximum" cushioning upon step impact. Max Air is designed to absorb the impact of hard hitting steps, so whether you are running jumping or just steppin hard, this unit with offer supreme cushion impact. The final benefit of the Air Max Posit Bakin Boot is the outsole. The outsole features the classic nike waffle design on the inside forefoot, under the arch. outside of the midfoot, and one piece on the back under the heel. The outsole of the Bakin Posite boot features the letters DRC which stands for "Durable Rubber Compound." DRC rubber is a mixture of classic solid rubber and other added materials to offer a durable outsole that will withstand rough n' tough surfaces. DRC as you can feel is very heavy, dense and supremely hard rubber material. For Nike DRC is mainly used in tennis, walking, and outdoor basketball shoes. The outsole of the Boot which displays the air unit very well while still protecting it from the elements, shows off a fiery flame design on the bottom of the boot. On the center of the flame carved out is a MAX AIR logo and under the heel, the base of the flame, there is a window into the air unit with the words AIR in black. There is also a swoosh on the forefoot of the sole and on the front right below the toes but positioned so it is seen on the front of the boot as one walks. That same flame as preveously mentioned is on the tongue look above the red and white ACG logo and on the heel loop above another nike swoosh. The flow of the flame on the outsole seems to follow along the side of the shoe and end on the back of the shoe right before the carbon fiber imaging next to another etched out AIR logo. Nike has also inlayed a black swoosh to the side of the boot under the foamposite in the midsole. The last detail necessary for mention is the words "Foamposite Technology" etched into the upper material by the heel cushioning and pocket. I would overall say this is a great boot and between this or the Foamdomes, I would pull these out anyday for style and for comfort. Hope to see it in many more colors! "Get DRIPT"~Treats Additional Details Heel pull tab for easy on and off Rubber wrapped toe-tip for protection Rubber outsole for durability Size 8.5Style Code-Color Code 417279-700 Color: Yellow, with blue highlight. 3M low light reflect material. Some of my personal thoughts on the Christmas KD III are that they are very light, however they are not the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. But on the other hand they are not the most uncomfortable. On a scale of 1-10 ill give them a 6/7 for comfort. However, the color of these shoes is right up my alley. Yellow, one of the colors I like to where the most, and these shoes look great with a pair of jeans or black training pants. Some of the details about the shoe: Color: Vibrant Yellow and Photo Blue with hints of Orange. Kevin Durants third shoe features a full grain leather upper for durability infused with 3M high visibility in low light settings. The shoe also features flywire for lightweight support and comfort. In my personal opinion, as light as flywire is, i need something squishy like more foam between my foot and and the flywire. This shoe also sports air technology, given by its name, ZOOM. The zoom air technology is hidden on the inside of the sole in order to offer a low profile with maximum cushioning and the ultimate in lightweight performance. Zoom technology isn't just an airbag inside, it is an airbag that shifts the air. The flywire technology, which is woven nylon fibers is seen on the upper of the shoe and it is infused to the laces. the shoe also offers an inside strap for arch support and more of connection and hold to the base of the shoe. One thing you will notice in this shoe is the four locations of Kevin Durant. The heel features a 4 button controller like symbol with KD 35 representing Kevin Durants love for gaming. KD logo is then placed on the tongue with a hole to slide your finger into in order to help get the shoe on, and on the bottom of the shoe next to another location that says the Zoom technology. Under the arch strap the shoes also note that they were designed and engineered to the exact specifications of Kevin Durant. In order to better understand the outsole, one must know that before he became an NBA All-Star, KD played ball in the Barry Farms Goodman League in Washington D.C. his hometown. On the bottom of the outsole there is a pattern that says "BF62" which is a pattern that pays tribute to the 62 points he scored in a game in Barry Farms. On top of that there are five lightning bolts in a semicircular patter at the forefoot that represent his team the oklahoma city thunder, each one representing a player on the court. Finally there are piano keys by the heel and midfoot to show his passion for music. This shoe also comes with a herringbone pattern outsole for multi directional traction and flex grooves for enhanced flexibility and smooth stride, which is featured in numerous Nike training shoe styles. At a retail price of only $88 this is a must have shoe for the basketball enthusiast. Website is finally published!
